Specific Guidelines and
Criteria for Courses Submitted in
LITERATURE
Specific guidelines and
criteria in Literature are as follows:
- Courses must be at the 200 level
with the written composition requirements as prerequisites;
- Courses must present major
intellectual and aesthetic ideas;
- Courses must cover multiple
genres and multiple historical/literary periods and represent diversity;
- Courses must include substantial
in class/out of class writing that:
- Encourages the development
of critical thinking skills and requires students to analyze, synthesize, and
evaluate knowledge;
- Re-enforces and advances the
skills from written composition.
- Is a significant determinant
of the final grade;
- Courses must consider the
subject in its relation to other disciplines and its application to human
concerns.
