WHAT ARE TEMPLATES?

Templates are used to establish the degree requirements for AREAS I-V for each of the majors offered through STARS.

The majority of all templates are created by one of three groups:

  1. General Studies Academic Committees (GSACs)
  2. Pre-professional Academic Committees (PACs)
  3. University Academic Administrators who are the only institutions that offered programs in a given discipline (INSTITUTION SPECIFIC TEMPLATES)

The template will then be taken before the AGSC at their next meeting for ratification.

HOW DO TEMPLATES BECOME TRANSFER GUIDES?

Once ratified by the AGSC, the STARS Office takes the template and creates a transfer guide based on the specific requirements listed on the ratified document. At that point, the STARS Office verifies the institutions which offer a degree in the major. The guide can then be used by students to guarantee transfer of their courses in the major.
