Orientation
instructors should feel free to use whatever instructional activities
that they feel are appropriate in informing students about the
possible pitfalls of transferring. The following are just a few examples
of
instructional activities that might be used in your "Transfer Survival
Course":
- Use of internet (if available) to
search for information pertaining to transfer students at various
colleges and universities.
- Use of past examples of students who
encountered problems during the transfer students.
- Use of past student testimonies to
emphasize the importance of planning ahead.
- Use of student affairs staff testimonies
to provide transfer information and guidance.
- Use of trivia games (or other types
of games) to help students learn more about the transfer process.
- Use of group learning to find information
or address possible transfer problems.
- Use of "Transfer
Survival Kit" to
help students begin the process planning for the transfer process.
- Use of video tapes that discuss the transfer process.
- Use of visual aids (catalogs, applications, financial aid information,
scholarship information, student loan information, STARS
Transfer Guides, etc.)
